Evaluation

Within my work my script and storyboard match up and work well to explain what is happening within the scene and give every angle, I worked hard to make sure it was understandable and that the reader could understand not only the plot of the scene but exactly what was happening at each point as well so where a camera was angled, where an interactive scene began and so on.

The quality of my script I think was very good because it explained what needed explaining in order to make it obvious to the reader what was happening, if for example someone decided to act the scene out I made sure that it was completely obvious on what speaking needed to be done and where and what movements needed to be done.

The dialogue I used to write my script and storyboard was of a good standard and in a professional format to ensure everything was up to standard and correct.

Along the production process, I worked to ensure that all of my ideas were detailed and worked on enough to secure a well thought out idea so that everything was up to scratch, my synopsis was written along the way, this was the overall write up of the story of my game.

Corpus Ingenii! is the name of the game. This is latin for 'Body of Ability!' I named it this because I thought with the player having the 'ability' to leave his 'body' and then venture into the soul world and then into another persons body it worked very well.

My personal effectiveness overall I think was very good because I managed to finish every piece of work on time and come up with an effective and original story with a storyboard and Script to go with it that was professionally done.

Peer Reflection

This is the storyboard and script feedback sheet that James Mason has filled in for me after reading through my work, it has helpful criticisms that I can use to make my work better.

It explains how I need to edit the layout of my work because it doesn't look completely professional.

It explains how I need to title my game because at the moment I do not have a title for it.

I think I have done well with the approach of the game because he didn't know what approach it could be which shows that it is an original idea that doesn't follow a set approach.

Overall I think the criticisms are helpful and will help me to change any issues in order to get a better overall grade.

Mindmap

This is a mind map I made to try and decide what my story would be based on and what it would be about, it is a basic version of my story up to now.

Idea 2

Intro Idea 2
Wakes in a hospital with Amnesia and moves around the hospital asking why he is there and why he can’t remember who he is and how he got there. When no information is given to him he tries to leave and is told he cannot and is escorted back to his room by a doctor, after getting angry and fighting back against the doctor trying to get him back into his bed he falls and shoots out of his body and into the doctors body, he can then see through the doctors eyes his lifeless body lying on the ground but can’t control anything the doctor is doing, he feels the doctor panicking and then realises he can hear everything the doctor is thinking. He is then forced out of the body and back into his own. Whilst within the doctor he learns from his thoughts that he has been forced to keep him there because he is a prisoner for an unknown reason and that if he failed he would be killed. He then looks up to the panicking doctor and swiftly kicks his legs from beneath him, jumps up and runs for the hospital doors. Once out he is completely clueless on what to do.

Section 2 Idea 2
He runs from the hospital to find somewhere to hide away whilst he tries to remember who he is and what happened to him whilst he was in the hospital, why did he leave his own body, how did he access another body, why was he a prisoner? He decides to try and bring on this occurrence again, he wants this body change to happen again. Does it only work between him and that doctor or is it optional? He finally manages to make it happen again and is then thrown into a world where he cannot be seen by anyone, he can move about as a ghost, a soul with no body, he can see his own lifeless body on the ground just like when he was in the hospital but this time he isn’t within anyone. He moves around other people, he walks towards people only to find he can access anyone he likes and see through their eyes and hear their thoughts, but again has no ability to control them in any way, he can come and go as he pleases, he moves back to his body and accesses himself again only to find that he is exhausted and weak, leaving his body can potentially kill it as well.

Section 3 Idea 2
As he moves through the city he is approached multiple times by people that try to apprehend him and attack him. He has to stay vigilant and run from these people, he can’t understand why people are after him, something else to add to the list of things he doesn’t understand. He then realises that perhaps this ability could become useful in trying to understand who he is and why he is being chased. By hiding his body in a secure place he can then leave it and find someone that may know something about him and why he is so important to these people. He learns about the Agency, he learns that he is a test subject, he learns about himself and who he is whilst also having to stay vigilant and run and fight his way through the city. He goes out to find his family and along the way he finds that they have been killed and his memory has been erased from everything that ever knew him, he was unknown to everyone but the agency that hunted him.

Section 4 Idea 2
He becomes so enraged by this that he goes out to find who did this to him and uncovers a conspiracy within the agency and soon realises that he wasn’t the only prisoner with a strange ability. There were others that were too, others with the same ability but then also others with different abilities, others with the ability to manipulate others bodies, control them when they accessed them, others with abilities to controls bodies without even leaving their own, these were further along in the process of the experiment, he would of gained these powers if he hadn’t awoken in the hospital. He then realises he is being hunted in both worlds, the world of men and the world of souls. He then realises that in order to beat the agency he needs to find a way of accessing these more and the only way to do this is destroy another with a more upgraded ability but this came with a price, each time he killed another with a power, the weaker his own soul became because of the evil that inhabits it, so not only is his own body becoming weaker each time he leaves it but now his soul is too.

Section 5 Idea 2
He continues to learn more information and run and hide from the people that hunt him between the world and the souls, he has to run from the agency in both worlds and uncover how to stop the agencies growing power and eradicate them once and for all to save more people from the experiments. He sees it as a curse, he has no peace to live in either world, he is chased in the real world and chased in the soul world but is killing his body when he leaves the real world and is killing his soul when he takes on new power from others further along in the experimental process. He finds a way into the Agency by taking on an upgraded power to control others bodies, he links his own body to a supply of adrenaline to keep it alive because it is slowly verging upon cardiac arrest and will soon die leaving him lost in the soul world, he fights, sneaks and works his way through the agency only to find that the origin of the experiments originated from an organic life form not human. The agency had uncovered the life form that had virally infected a woman who was then quarantined and experimented on within their complex and then the infection was injected into others to see the outcome, the agency then tried to contain the infected people and that is the reason they had become so powerful within the city but had failed and the infected had escaped including himself. The woman infected with the origin virus was his wife who had now grown into an inhuman organism that no longer looked even remotely human. He accesses this life form and learns that everyone infected will inevitably lose their humanity and become another organic life form.

Section 6 Idea 2
He realises that the only way to stop the growth of the infection is to destroy his wife and then destroy the city. He destroys the life form and feels the pain of its death, the origin of the infection destroyed triggered an impact on everyone infected and creates mass panic and rage and creates a city or destruction and causes the infection to spread quicker and more ferociously, his actions had created an even more hostile city and he knew it, it was his fault, if he hadn’t have escaped no one would be out searching for him, if he hadn’t have destroyed the life form the city wouldn’t have gone crazy, the infection was spreading, it was down to him to stop it. Using his only last strength in his body and soul he fights through the city to hopefully destroy the infection and nuke the city so that it never gets out into the world.

Idea 1

Intro Idea 1
Finds an object that he puts on perhaps a ring or necklace that then forces him out of his own body as a soul leaving his body lifeless and vulnerable but then gives him the ability to move around the area as a soul, he is invisible everyone and can then access other peoples bodies and see through their eyes and hear their thoughts but not control them.

Section 2 Idea 1
He uses the object multiple times to access other peoples bodies and minds because it is such an addictive experience, he then realises after multiple uses that he is draining his own body because the life force keeps being removed from it, he is leaving his body vulnerable every time he leaves it.

Section 3 Idea 1
He then finds meets a man that tries to steal the object from him, succeeding in this mugging he uses the object accidentally and falls limp in front of the man, after a while nothing happens to the body, he then decides the only way to stop this is to kill the body and takes it upon himself to destroy the muggers lifeless body. After this happens he is seen and the law starts to chase him down. It then becomes a story of survival and hiding away from the law, but also he is addicted to this experience of using the object but knows that the more he does it the closer he gets to killing his body.

Section 4 Idea 1
He has to find a balance between using the object and staying alive but also has to use it to keep hidden and learn more information on what the law know about him so whether they know where he is hiding and whether or not he is safe in his current position. He has to learn new skills in fighting and free running to keep away from the law that are hunting him.

Section 5 idea 1
In the end he uncovers that the object is cursed and that every person that uses it will be forgotten by everyone they have ever known and that anything that they come across will die around them, they are cursed to live forever in the soul world and as hard as they try to keep their body alive they will not succeed, he will live alone forever.

Section 6 Idea 1
He decides that he no longer wants the burden of the object and goes out to destroy it only to find it is not possible, he removes it and hides it under the earth far beneath the city. He goes through his life caught by the law and locked up, he slowly disappears into the soul world and is lost forever.

Information on Story

Theme
The theme of the game is a man with a power to move from body to body is being hunted by someone or a group of people and he has to find out why and how to stop them.

Setting
The setting of the game is within a large city run by an agency with unknown power, there is also a secondary setting of the same large city but seen in a different way, a darker city that is only seen when you are a soul.

Context
You can access random people’s bodies that are in the city that don’t actually have any relevance to the story and are more a way of hiding from the agency and perhaps learning small amounts of information about a certain person that could then lead back onto the story.

Backstory
The agency have taken a group of people and began experiments on them, they have become the law within the city and run everything.

Introduction

This unit is based around writing up a story to a game that we have created and then a script to part of the game. The unit isnt about writing a full story but more an elaborate synopsis to the story, we have to write about our concept, its theme, the setting, the back story and so on to create an overall feel so that anyone that reads it has an idea of what the story is going to be about.
